A Matter of Timing

There's still time to win your very own Conair Ultra Slim Straightener courtesy of me! Just click here to join in the fun! All the details are there - don't miss out!

My period is here! Well, kind of. PCOS girls, many of know you what I'm talking about. Any sign of a period is often time for celebration since it tends to go AWOL for months at a time. Since I'm currently not doing treatments, the return of my period is a good thing.

That said, my period is messing with me. I'm on day 2 of light spotting and I'm holding out with all hope that it will result in a full period soon. Just when I think we're good to go, the damn thing lets up again and I'm left wondering just what exactly my body is doing. Will I get to CD-1 without my trusty sidekick Provera? Only time will tell!

Sadly though, even if my period does decide to show in the next day or so, I'm in a bit of a conundrum. It honestly couldn't arrive at the worst possible time. I'm all set to go back to treatments...wait for it... BUT...

But if timing works out the way it does, I may be on hold for another month.

Here's the deal. I have to go away for work next weekend. There is no way around this. Without going into too much detail, this is a retreat style event, meaning that I would have a hell of a time trying to do injections without anyone knowing. I'm not really sure at this point if that's even possible. Then there's trying to figure out how to store the injectibles in a communal fridge without the world having a sneaky peek.

What would you do? Would you risk it? Or would you just wait one more month knowing that timing will most definitely be better then?

Oh gosh. That is such a hard one. I don't know.

One one hand, I am extremely impatient. The thought of putting it on hold would kill me. I may just suffer through it. I don't know what the injections look like, but could you say that you are treating a medical problem, and not go into it? Can you make something up? I don't know what the treatments look like, so please forgive me if that sounds absurd. Can you put the meds in a lunch box in the fridge?

On the other hand, will it make you so nervous that it is not worth it?

You have a tough decision. If it was me, I would do it I think. I am just impatient that way though.

Let us know when you decide!

Tell them you are low on B-12 and needed injections to get your levels up.

I would just about do anything to complete a cycle but this is always a tuffy.

Looking forward to hearing about what happens next?!

I like everyones ideas about bending the truth. Me, I'm such an open book , I would tell everyone just so I didn't have to skip a month!!! :)

Hmmm...I'm trying to keep the fact that I'm TTC a secret from my work. I just don't want to give them any ideas about cutting back on employees and including me in that cut. Plus I have no idea WHEN I'm going to finally get K.U. But you've gone through so much to get to this point - do you really want to take that month off?

It's never easy.. it depends on how you think your work would treat you if they found out you were TTC. If they would be supportive then maybe you should inform those you choose, if not.... can you make something up like you are taking vitamin shots as you just discovered you have anaemia???

Like many other posts I don't think I could skip a month either. Another excuse: They could be your insulin injections. Diebetics always have to keep their insulin in the fridge. Don't really know if you want to play the diabetes card, but it would be believable if you did! Good Luck! =)

I dunno... I'm a bit of a 'get it over and done with' kind of girl. I would probably do it, and just try and store things in a lunch box or something (anyone that has the balls to look inside still can't say much- because, hey- they snooped!!)...

Yikes--tough one! I feel for you. I would probably do it and make something up-- the B12 idea is a good one!

I don't know what meds you are using. But with my meds I only have to keep them in the fridge if we aren't using them. If you are injecting everyday you don't have to put it back in the fridge between shots. So if I were you I would be shooting away. But when you are injecting won't you be needing to be monitered? Can you leave a retreat for u/s & b/w? I was on Gonal-F. I hope that helps...
Good Luck!!

I think the vitamin shots are a great excuse! Keep them in a lunch box or some kind of bag, too, so people don't go rooting through them.

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

I feel ya Cysta. It's always a good period if I don't have to take the mood-distorting Provera to kick start it. Ugh. I'm on CD 35, and still no AF (with a BFN just this morning).

Anyways, I say you just tell people you're an IV drug user and you need to keep your stash in the fridge. I'm sure no one will think anything off it then, when they see you shoot up. ;-)

Good luck!

Nothings ever easy is it?? I would make something up if you aren't comfortable telling the truth. I would think you may regret skipping a month for the purpose of timing...

I love the idea of putting them in a lunchbox and then a snooper can't really say anything. Vitamin shots is a great excuse.

Me, I wouldn't able to wait another month. I'm impatient like that :-p

I hateeee IF....UGHHHHH...I am so sorry for not being able to help! If you were able to wait a month, and have bigger expectations then wait...but I would not wait...that is just me...I am such an anxious person

Yep, I'd lie about the shots and stick them in a bag or an empty yogurt container or something in the fridge to discourage moderately nosy people (you know any truly ballsy nosy ones will just open it up).

If it's going to totally stress you out though, I'd wait.

Maybe PCOS will play in your favor for once and push AF off so it's not an issue?

Hmm, I'm with Busted Kate...IV drug user is probably the best route. Then you'll just be a crazy drug addict instead of a crazy infertile, I'm sure this will make everyone more comfortable.

No, really though, I tend to put things off. I travel quite a bit for work and if it were me, I'd probably wait it out. That said, it's reeeaally hard to be that patient. Tough decision. I guess if I knew that it would be safe, no one would snoop or ask questions and my schedule would allow for injections at the right time, I might do it.
