Period Watch: The Clusterf#&! Edition

Back to the original intent of this post.

File this under...it could only happen to me.

As we turn once again to the saga that is getting me a period I went to the fertility clinic on Friday morning for my blood work. I hadn't set foot in the place since July so it was kind of odd and yet familiar to fall back into that routine. There's a new receptionist in the place, she seemed nice. I was also super lucky that Nurse Awesome was on duty for blood work so my poor veins were spared major trauma. Nurse Awesome said she'd touch base a little later to confirm that we were "good to go" with the Provera and would call in the prescription to my pharmacy.

As Irish Boy would say, "Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy!"

Or so I thought.

3:00 in the afternoon rolled around and I still hadn't heard from Nurse Awesome. This was odd as she's usually very on the ball. So I called her. It turns out that the RE (my RE, the one who I'm now supposedly exclusively dealing with) was holding things up by not signing off on the Provera unless I came in to see her.

This is where we insert a WTF?

Nurse Awesome was as confused as I was. My blood work was fine. There was no reason not to give me the Provera. And it's not like I haven't taken it before. Normally the two former ensure the doctor signing off on the prescription. To add insult to injury, not only had I taken it before, but the one time I was prescribed it was by THAT RE! Nurse Awesome promised to continue to keep trying but in the worst case scenario, I might have to return to the clinic early next week to see the RE and then (hopefully?) get the damn Provera.

Say it one more time with me: WTF?!

When I didn't hear back from Nurse Awesome after that, I considered myself screwed. And not in a good way.

So we'll see what Monday morning brings. Likely a call from the damn clinic hopefully setting up an appointment with the RE (whom I was in love with before). I swear the woman doesn't remember who the hell I am or something. It would be just my luck.

Yippee. But, this may mean that Monday's blog post is full o' news because I also follow up with the PCOS specialist that morning.

Stay tuned, Internetz. Period Watch: The ClusterF$#! Edition is on.

I am so sorry. That is incredibly annoying. I often wonder why doctors do crap like that, especially if they prescribed the meds before. What does he think you are going to do with it??? Sell it??? Snort it??

So annoying. Again I say... Ohip medical system Can't live with it can't live without it. Similar things happened to me on clomid #1. Almost took some people out. And that was before the clomid rage!

How annoying!! Do demand explanations when you see the RE. What the hell is her problem??? Don't they know that us IF are easily shaken by unexpected change of schedule and plans? I'll be waiting to read your updates on monday. Love, Fran

She must need a new car...getting those copays in early this year.

I could understand if you were trying to get pain meds or narcotics - but provera? Really? Come on! What a bummer.

Glad you got to see the Nurse Awesome.
WTF? Does the doctor just want your co-pay?

Ugh, that definitely deserves a WTF! I can't wait to hear what they say tomorrow.

Don't you hate it when doctors can't get their acts together? Oh, that is definetly worth a WTF. I had so many clusterf***s with RE's, doctors, etc. that I lost count. I finally just started being a bitch sometimes to get them to listen to me. It sucks to do that (especially if the office staff is nice), but we are fighting for ourselves and we have to advocate for what is best for us. I hope tomorrow goes better and that you get it all straightened out.

So many doctors like to play that game. I guess they know that we're at their mercy.

I too have not been back at my clinic since July. I do feel awkward. I might try a different place. It was good to hear that there are others like me out there.

Good luck on Monday!
